Newsletter of Commission 28

Dear Members of Commission 28,

This is the newsletter (No. 8; 28/08/2002) of Commission 28.

It is high time to prepare the triennial report (1999-2001) of the Commission 28.

As some of you may know, Divisions and Commissions have the option of providing either very brief summaries of what is going on in their fields or more extended reports.

Virginia Trimble has almost completed her comprehensive Division VIII report in which many hot topics are covered. You may remember her asking you for inputs to the report.

Accordingly, I take the option of very brief summaries (usually 4 printed pages) for our Commission Report to avoid inevitable overlaps with Virginia's report.

I would greatly appreciate your input on the following items which I am going to include into our Commission Report. Just telling me the conferences you attended would be quite helpful. Relevant URLs are also appreciated.

     For period 1 July 1999 - 30 June 2002

  1. major conferences (not only IAU sponsored ones) with information on its proceedings
  2. good review papers useful to many of us
  3. major catalogues (with URL, if available) compiled during the above period

Since the IAU deadline, 1 OCTOBER 2002, is approaching, I would very much appreciate your quick response. 'Replying' this e-mail will be all right.

If you have suggestions for other items to be included in the report, please let me know.

I should say that all of your inputs may not be included because of the page limit.

     With best wishes

     Sadanori
