Bristol Astrophysics Seminars

Introduction

The astrophysics group hosts a series of meetings throughout the academic year. The programme includes invited seminar speakers, local speakers and conference reports. Graduate students in the group are expected to be present: all others are welcome. Final year project students, and other interested parties outside the astrophysics group, are positively encouraged to attend.

Thursday, 12:00-1:00pm.
Room 3.27 (Oct-Dec)/3.34 (Jan-July), H. H. Wills Physics Laboratory.
Everybody is welcome to join us for lunch at the Hawthorns after the seminar.

Participating in Seminars via the Access Grid Node

If you would like to participate in a seminar using your Access Grid Node, then please inform Luke Davies (luke.davies@bristol.ac.uk) and Malcolm Bremer (m.bremer@bristol.ac.uk) at least one week in advance as we do not broadcast our seminars by default. Once you have ascertainted that we will be broadcasting our seminar, then you will need the following information. We use the virtual venue "University of Bristol", this is available using either the "Institution Rooms" on the INSORS Venue server page (http://virgo.agsc.man.ac.uk/) or the AG2 venue page (https://george.ag.mcc.ac.uk:8000/Venues/default) also run by the Access Grid Support Centre. If we are broadcasting powerpoint it will be on the following page http://venue.insors.net/igpix/uofbristol/, we will have the IGchat icon open and can also use AG Text Chats on jabber.mcs.anl.gov (let us know which room you want to use). Finally, there is a phone in the room and the number is: 0117 331 7439.

The seminar organizers are Luke Davies and Malcolm Bremer.
